Since its inception in 1977, BSEHR devoted its efforts to accomplish some specific objectives with an approach towards improving the overall human rights situation in Bangladesh. BSEHR has, to its credit provided and performed innumerable legal assistance, investigations, training, reports, publications, legal awareness building, youth development program, journalist training, campaign for effective local government program, food security program, disaster management and electoral activities that have caused wide proliferation in the set fabric of the society and have sensitized a sizable population towards correcting a host of social injustices that were earlier neglected and unaddressed.
BSEHR and its branches have, over the last thirty eight years or so, actively interacted with concerned GO, NGO, civil society, donors and other involved agencies to identify appropriate ways and means as to how the legal and human rights issues can be best addressed in Bangladesh. Strength of BSEHR is that its members, countrywide, donate considerable time and commitment to support the legal needs of people through voluntary services.
BSEHR has maintained a contract-flow information exchange and dialogues Network International with leading international bodies in the area of human rights, including the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, Amnesty International, International-Commission of Jurists, Human Rights Internet, Asian Coalition for Human Rights, Justice & Peace Commission, Asian Regional Resource Center for Human Rights Education (ARRC) and the South Asian Coalition for Human Rights and Democracy (SACHRAD). Side by side the organization has also maintained a wide network with NGOs working at National level.
