BMBS Humanitarian Projects for the Rohingya Refugees

Bangladesh Manabadhikar Bastabayan Sangstha (BMBS) is providing humanitarian assistance to Rohingya crisis in  Bangladesh especially in Cox’sbazar district.More than 5 lakhs Rohingya took shelter at Kutupalong and Balukhali of Ukhia under Cox’sbazar district.     Bangladesh Manabadhikar Bastabayan Sangstha has been implementing several projects for humanitarian assistance to Rohingya in Ukhya and Tekhnaf.
The projects are-1. Emergency food support.

 

2. Install Tube wells to ensure pure drinking water at Kutupalang and Balukhali.

3. Built community/group latrines to ensure sanitation.

4. Establish vocational and educational institutions for the Rohingya.

5. Introduce health camps.

6. Distribute child food.

7. Distribute mosquito nets.

 

Bangladesh Manabadhikar Bastabayn Sangstha is now conducting need assessment among the beneficiaries e.g. the Rohingya community to find out their most needed and urgent and will take the necessary steps for rehabilitation and livelihood as required. The organization has also invited the Government, non-government organizations, national and international organizations and the rich of the country to provide necessary supports to the Rohingya refugees

Title of the project Support Implementation of Capacity Building of Local NGO’s and Relevant Actors on rapid response to marginalized violence victims including comprehensive legal aid packages in CHT
Goal and Objectives of the Project Goal of the project

 

The goal of the project is to contribute towards creating enabling environment for protection and promotion of human rights and dignity for women and girls in Bangladesh with the purpose to strengthen local agencies and service structure and engage moderate number of  beneficiaries towards protection and promotion their rights in CHT areas.

Objectives

  1. To enhance capacity and create pro-activeness in CHT community to address the VAW and violation of women human rights;
  2. To strengthen the local partners and service providing institutions for effective mechanism to support the women and girls survivors and ensuring social justice; and
  3. To establish mechanism for tracking the incidence of violence and promote evidence based advocacy.

The objective will be achieved primarily by strengthening community responsibilities to find a strong mechanism by mobilizing their voices and make them more sensitize on the VAW issue. The project will address problems and challenges’ the women and poor people are facing in exercising their social, economic and political rights, and will create better environment for protection and promoting of human rights especially for women, children and girls.

Title of the project Strengthening Community Capacity to Ensure Women Human Rights  (SCWHR)
Goal and Objectives of the Project Goal of the Project

 

The goal of the project is to contribute towards creating enabling environment for protection and promotion of human rights and dignity for women and girls in Bangladesh

Objective

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen community and to empower & engage 7164 direct beneficiaries towards protection and promotion of women and girls rights (secured from domestic violence, reduced dowry, stopped child marriage, ensure access to justice, settled family issues etc) in the targeted districts at the end of 3 years project. The specific objectives are:

  • To enhance capacity and create proactive the community to address the VAW and violation of women human rights;
  • To strengthen the local platforms and service providing institutions for effective mechanism to support the women and girls survivors and ensuring social justice;
  • To establish mechanism for tracking the incidence of violence and promote evidence based advocacy;
  • To increase recognition of women’s contribution in family as well as society and country (economic and non-economic) development

Title of the project Prevent Trafficking through Community Capacity
Project Goal and Objectives Goal of the project:

 

To strengthen community capacity for prevention of human trafficking  and identify people at risk/victims of trafficking for further support appropriate

Objectives:

To develop and empower the community workforce (Peer leader) with appropriate knowledge and effective tools that impacts the prevention of trafficking in persons through community awareness and mobilization

To built capacity of CTCs and DEMO and establish better coordination among them including private sectors, local governance, recruiting agencies and people at risk, survivors of TIP and protect migrants for effective service in prevention TIP
